Addressing a joint press statement after the talks, President Murmu described her visit as a historic milestone, as it is the first-ever State Visit by an Indian President to the Republic of Moldova. She said the visit reflects the growing friendship and mutual trust shared by the two nations, which have maintained warm and cordial relations for more than three decades.
The two leaders agreed to promote greater trade and investment, strengthen resilient supply chains and encourage closer engagement between their respective business communities. President Murmu expressed confidence that the India-Moldova Business Forum, being held alongside the State Visit, would provide fresh momentum to economic cooperation and create new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
Emphasising education and capacity building as key pillars of the bilateral partnership, President Murmu announced that India will double the number of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation training slots available for Moldovan professionals. The expanded programme will include specialised courses in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. She also invited Moldovan diplomats to participate in artificial intelligence and cyber diplomacy programmes at India's Foreign Service Institute.
President Murmu invited Moldova to become a member of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and the Global Biofuels Alliance while acknowledging the existing cooperation between the two countries under the International Solar Alliance. The proposals reflected both nations' commitment to expanding collaboration in sustainable development, renewable energy and climate resilience.
During the discussions, President Murmu and President Sandu also exchanged views on regional and global developments. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, dialogue and respect for international law. President Murmu reiterated that India has consistently supported the peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
Concluding the visit, President Murmu thanked President Maia Sandu, the Government and the people of Moldova for their warm hospitality. She expressed confidence that India and Moldova would continue to build a stronger, future-oriented and mutually beneficial partnership, further strengthening bilateral cooperation across strategic, economic and technological sectors.
